Participant Consulting Advice for 401(K) Review

Employer-Sponsored Retirement Plan Investment Advice

To meet retirement goals as affordably as possible, 401(k) participants must do three basic things – save early and often, keep account fees to a minimum, and invest appropriately. To invest appropriately, participants must construct - and maintain – an investment portfolio that includes a diversified mix of investments based on their time horizon (time to retirement) and risk tolerance. An appropriate portfolio balances the participant’s growth potential with risk of losses. Striking this balance is important. Otherwise, a participant could miss out on returns by investing too conservatively when young or sustain unrecoverable losses by investing too aggressively when older.

Given the stakes, it’s not surprising that many 401(k) participants want professional help investing their account. By partnering with us, you can receive the professional advice you need to create a thoughtful strategy that brings your personal vision of financial independence into focus - whether you are just getting started or nearing retirement.

What is Participant Consulting Advice Program (PCAP)?

Our Participant Consulting Advice Program (PCAP) is designed to provide clients with advice at the individual participant level where advisors deliver one-on-one advice and investment support for qualified plan participants through LPL Financial’s Registered Investment Advisor (RIA). Advisors may also engage with the Plan Sponsor to provide PCAP services.

Through PCAP, an Investment Advisor Representative (IAR) may provide clients with asset allocation and/or specific investment recommendations for the client’s retirement plan assets that are help at a custodian other than LPL Financial.

The services are provided through a one-time engagement; they are not provided on an ongoing basis. And, it is up to the client to decide whether or not to implement the recommendations made by the IAR.

Who Is PCAP Designed For?

PCAP is specifically designed for current 401(k) and group retirement participants. If you are NOT a current participant, but still have a 401(k) from a previous employer, contact us to discuss your options. Here are some examples of who PCAP is designed for:
