Flat fee based financial planning enables advisors to build long term client relationships, gain a complete understanding of their client's financial position, and receive compensation for providing a valuable service. This program is designed to support advisors who prepare written financial plans. Advisors offer fee-based financial plans to their prospects and clients through LPL Financial's Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) platform.

Type of Plan for Financial Planning

Advisors develop customized financial plans based on an assessment of the client's needs and financial situation. Plan analysis can include retirement planning, education planning, estate planning, major purchase planning, life insurance needs, disability insurance needs, long-term care needs.

LPL Financial defines the Type of Plan for delivery as either an Initial Plan or Progress Report

  • Initial Plan --- The initial comprehensive financial plan created for a prospect or client. An initial plan can include an existing financial plan based on a new set of circumstances caused by a change in the client's financial situation. This can include but is not limited to: marriage, divorce, adding a dependent, or a change in the client's investment objectives.
  • Progress Report --- The annual update to a prospect or client's existing comprehensive financial plan. The comprehensive financial plan requires revisions based on additional assets or changes in current investment valuations. update plans track the progress of client goals and provide target valuation updates.
